calculator on this site does not work for you, I will walk you through it myself and do the math
with you over the phone.
What I am aiming for
My goal for this site is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. I am not
claiming perfect conformance, because I would rather tell you the truth and fix what you find. This
is a small business site that I keep working on.
What is in place today
- A “skip to main content” link so keyboard users can get past the header.
- Keyboard access to the menu, the review and association sliders, and the calculators.
- Text and button colors checked for contrast against their backgrounds.
- Real text instead of pictures of text, so it reflows and scales when you zoom.
- Labels and descriptive text on links and images, including the ones in sliders.
- Video content that lives on YouTube, where captions are available.
Known gaps I am working on
- Some third-party embeds, including application forms hosted outside this site, are not fully
under my control. If one blocks you, call me and we will do it together. - Older blog posts may still have images with thin alt text.
- Some PDFs I link to were produced by other organizations and may not be tagged for screen
readers. Ask me and I will read you the part you need or send a plain-text version.
About the accessibility widget that used to be here
This site used to show a floating accessibility toolbar. I removed it. Those overlays can fight
with the screen reader, magnifier or high-contrast mode you already use, and they slowed the site
down for everyone. Your own tools do the job better. The site is built to work with them.
